Dr Julathep Kajornchaiyakul graduated in 1992 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from Chulalongkorn University, Thailand. He pursued postgraduate studies in metallurgical and materials engineering in the US. He obtained his M.Sc. from Colorado School of Mines in 1996 and his Ph.D. at University of Connecticut in 2000. Since then he has worked at the National Metal and Materials Technology Center (MTEC) under the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA) of Thailand. He has involved in a number of industrial projects focusing on materials and manufacturing technology, especially metals casting and aluminum processing, as well as related areas covering aspects in design and innovation.

Later on he had been appointed Research Director of the Design & Engineering Research Unit at MTEC. He has served as a member of technical committees of the Board of Investment (BOI) of Thailand and the Federal Thai Industries (FTI). Since 2015 he has been appointed Executive Director of MTEC.
